Chaplin Question Empty What Sabrina Thinks...

Post  sabrinaDewes Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:59 pm

I think it is very important that film makers should study Chaplin's films because his films are mostly relied on body language and exaggerated movements. His films have no sound so you can't hear what the characters were saying, however, the film was just as entertaining as one from todays generation because Chaplin evoked the audience's emotion and kept them intrigued solely by his acting. This is an important skill for a director, writer and/or producer to have to be able to create a good film because you would not get the same reaction from an audience if the acting did not mirror exactly how the character would feel in a situation. If you take "The Boy In The Stripped Pajamas" for an example, when the German boy is going to meet his friend at the concentration camp, you can see that he is running because he is excited and that he is happy to see his friend when he sees and smiles. This all connects to facial expressions and body language. Even when the two boys enter the gas chamber (this is very sad to write about omg Sad ) there is clearly verbal communication happening between the boys talking about how confused they are, however, you can see in their faces that they are scared and through the actions of the people around them you can tell that there is something bad happening and that everyone is scared which makes the viewer scared. You will not get the same reaction from the viewers if the acting was not as strong in telling the story of the characters. In a scene like this, to effectively get an audience to share the same fear that the characters in the movie are having, you are going to need a whole lot of acting to make the viewer feel as if they are in the same situation. This all ties back to Chaplins technique in acting; He teaches inspiring Film makers that acting is a crucial part in story telling and a crucial element in how you impactful the feeling will take effect on an audience. Charlie is a master in the field of film making and if there was a big textbook on how to make great films, there would be a whole chapter explaining how Charlie Chaplin did it through his acting and thats why it is important for film makers today to study his films.

Chaplin Question Empty Chaplin VS prajwitha's thinking

Post  Prajwitha28 Wed Feb 27, 2019 7:18 pm

Charlie Chaplin was one of the best actor, director and filmmaker in the late 90s. It is important for all future filmmakers, directors to learn about Chaplin's movie; because he was the first person to make a movie without sound and colour and made the audience laugh and understand the film. For example, the circus by Charlie Chaplin was one of the hit movies in the past. The audience knew what was happening in the film and they had fun watching it. He was famous for his character "The Tramp", the sweet little man with a bowler hat, mustache and cane, Charlie Chaplin was an iconic figure of the silent-film era and one of the film's first superstars, elevating the industry in a way few could have ever imagined. Most of Chaplin's movies are comedic; he makes the audience laugh. Even though he was going through hard times, he still made it through the day. Nowadays, there are different genres of the film. For example, romance, crime, action, sci-fi, family and kids, documentaries etc. Not all of these genres make the audience laugh; some of them make us cry, laugh, feel sad and all other emotions mixed together. In Chaplin's movies, he never spoke; he just acted funny Very Happy The new generations don't like black and white movies because they think, it is boring but it still makes the audience laugh. Now, people like coloured movies because it feels real and you can understand what they are saying. In conclusion, it should be studied by all filmmakers because they can improve using Chaplin's techniques.

Chaplin Question Empty Re: Chaplin Question

Chaplain is one of the greatest film directors ever and anyone wanting to be a filmmaker should study his films. Most of us would not like to watch a silent film but Chaplin uses other aspects to get his message across. He uses music, acting, and camera work to make the audience understand the story being told. The music would work with the mood of the plot and the actors facial expressions would show the audience how they are feeling without using dialogue. For example, in the Circus, when the police are chasing the Tramp, the music is very quick to show that it is a stressful situation. His facial expression is also scared to show that he was scared because he was getting chased. The stories he wanted to tell would not have came out the way they did with out the great acting by both him and the other actors. Nowadays filmmakers aren’t making silent films but they still use the techniques Chaplin used from his silent films to get their story across.

Charlie Chaplin was one of the most talented filmmakers of all time and he helped shape the film industry into what it has become today. Chaplin was a pioneer of the film industry and his work has made a lasting impact on society and pop culture. Chaplin’s work should continue to be studied by all aspiring filmmakers as his work gives important insight into the history of film. Filmmakers may look at Chaplin’s movies and draw inspiration from how he was able to create classic films with limited tools. For most of his films he did not have colour or sound to work with yet he was still able to create a cohesive story. Modern filmmakers should draw inspiration from this as most films nowadays rely heavily on dialogue and less on the actual art of filmmaking.

chaplin is regarded as a master of film because he completely understood film as a means of visual storytelling. as he lived during the silent era he had no choice but to adapt and tell a story solely through visuals. he was able to make people laugh without the use of one-liners or quips but with his body alone. his most famous and popular character never spoke a word but was beloved because of chaplin's acting ability and talent of making people laugh without speaking a word. he truly understood the meaning of the phrase "show, dont tell" and thus he is regarded as a legendary filmmaker.

Chaplin Question Empty Chaplin Question

Charlie Chaplin was and still is, one of the most influential people in the film industry. In the early 1950's, technology and movies were new found concepts. Having produced films without sound or advanced editing softwares, Mr. Chaplain set an impressive example for future film corporations. Through makeup, costumes, miming and acting, Charlie produced movies which were relatable and easily understood by the audience. I specifically found 'The Circus', a comedy which I believe teens of today would find funny. For teenagers of the 21st century to still connect with vintage films as such, proves Charlie Chaplain's film making abilities are still relevant today and should be continuously reviewed.

Chaplin Question Empty Charlie Chaplin

Post  gabriella velante Thu Mar 21, 2019 7:31 pm

Charlie Chaplin was an amazing actor and director for his time. He changed the whole filmmaking industry with his unique and creative work. Although some of his films are over 100 years old, I think that the effect and influence that viewers receive is something more impactful than watching a movie from 2 years ago. Chaplin was so ahead of his time, in terms of how he both acted and directed films. He made the movies with no colour or sound, yet still succeeded the joy that people had once they watched his films. These people that aspire to make movies should study Chaplin's films to think deeper and notice the techniques that his brilliant mind thought of. As they study his films, they can makeup new ways to enhance their films with the influence of Charlie Chaplin.

Chaplin Question Empty Re: Chaplin Question

There are a lot of things you can learn from a 100 year old film, just because it’s old does not mean you cannot learn from it, these days it’s just New this and new that when sometimes we’re looking for a little bit of a throwback. Charlie Chaplin is such a true representative of pure comedy although there was comedy before him it’s like he brought it back to life even more than it could ever be alive and so I feel that in today’s society we’re somewhat lacking that pure comedy that everyone loves

although some of Charlie Chaplin's films are over 100 years old, anyone that wants to go into the film industry should study all of Chaplin's work. Even though all the movies had no colour or sound you can still see the message that he is trying to show, this takes an immense amount of talent because you can only use body language and facial expressions but he was still able to make people laugh. Chaplin did not only star in his films but also directed them. New filmmakers should take a lot of the things they see in Chaplin's work and use it to inspire their own.

Chaplin Question Empty Re: Chaplin Question

Chaplin's films are a great example of what it means to be 'ahead of ones time'. Through an era of live performance and short videos entitled as 'movies' Chaplin broke the barrier of silent films and added chaos and comedy to entertain all audiences. His work conveyed emotion, humour, and set the tone, all the while saying no words. It is important for anyone going into the film genre to have a knowledge of the classic works that set the foundation and shaped the film industry to what it is today. Although some audiences may not be drawn to his films, he is still (in a way) the father of film. Around long before movies had dialogue, Charlie created a universe within each movie that expressed so much with so little. The choreography and execution of each film goes to show just how important the use of body language, emotion, costumes, and set are to the understanding of a storyline.
